How To: Order from Althea Korea PH

For this week’s Feature Friday, let’s talk about and review this new online shop making rounds on social media as tons of YouTuber are raving about it – Althea Korea.

Althea Korea is Korea-based (South, I assume) which very  recently came to the Philippines. They sell tons of Korean brand (South, I assume!). Some of these brands are already available here in the country, like Etude House, Tony Moly and my beloved The Face Shop.

But of course, I tried Althea Korea for you, my dear reader. READER – singular. Who’s probably a guy.

Let me first disclose that I bought my orders with my own moolah. These are not freebie (I am not important enough to have these freebies. HAHAHAHUHUHU).

Another disclosure: I am NOT a fan of korean brand cosmetics (because I think their formulatioms were made NOT for tropical countries like ours), but I LOVE their skin cares. I am currently using a The Face Shop serum and toner, as well as Etude House cleanser and mask. Also, the only sheet masks I ever truly enjoy are Korean brands – TFS and Tony Moly.

However, since they just started operations very recently, they are very generous with their discounts.

Upon sign up, Althea Korea gave me P300 worth of store credit. Yey!

Plus, shipping is free with orders 999 and above, instead of the original P1,500,

Also, there’s a free product included. When I checked out, it was a No Sebum Mineral Powder worth P260. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder

Price: P360 260.00 FREE!
other online store: P500.00

Well, I technically did not buy this and got this for me. Yey for me!

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner (250ml)
Price: P440.00
I’ll check with the local Etude House how much this is

I’ve been eying this toner since I really enjoy the Wonder Pore line of Etude House (I have the foam cleanser and also the powder-which-will-turn-to-an-aweome-mask mask). I needed to fill the P999 free shipping minimum so… you know… might as well *click add to cart*.

Tony Moly Backgel Eye Liner (Pearl Black)

Price: P510.00 290.00
I’ll check with the local Tony Moly how much this is

I am also obsessing over eyeliners right now, and this one’s the first thing I saw which was also relatively inexpensive. I didn’t even realize that it’s a Tony Moly until after I checked out. Gah, what is wrong with me.

Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

P780.00 560.00

I read TONS of rave reviews about this clay mask and I was, like, I have to try this. However, it is always out-of-stock in another favorite online store. So I grabbed the chance and included this on my cart. It’s also significantly less expensive. Because who would want to buy an almost P1k worth of well-loved mask. Me, probably but that’s beside the point.

That’s the coolest thing about Althea Korea. The items are suuuuper less expensive compared to their local stores here.

Since I got a P300 store credit, plus a free mineral powder, I only paid P990 for four items (via Paypal). It’s almost as if I only paid for the mask and the pore freshner. Plus, free shipping yey!

Oh giddy!

However, there’s a con.

Since items are shipped directly from Korea to your doorstep, it would take more than 24 hours for your items to be delivered.

Mine took almost a week, including the weekend.

HOWEVER, the great thing about this is it’ll be delivered to your doorstep and you don’t have to deal with the Customs horror.

  • February 18, 2016: orders placed
  • February 22, 2016: I received an email informing me that my items were shipped already. They also gave my a link where I can track the movement of my package.

  • February 25, 2016: I got a text message early in the morning informing me that my items will be delivered in my doorstep that day. It did arrive midday.

NOTE! They are very strict with the release of package. If you are not available to receive the items, leave an authorization letter, copy of the order (emailed to you), and your ID.

The package came in a box inside a pink plastic pouch. Since my orders are tiny, I guess I got a smaller box? I am just assuming here.

This came in a neat, sturdy box I am surely going to re-use:

Here’s what’s inside. The items are wrapped with bubble wrap, plus some pink paper which served as fillers I guess:

Ok, I had to remove those (very cute) pink papers/clutters:

Everything seemed so perfect.

Look, the box was soaking in clear, liquid stuff.

The box itself is not AT ALL secured. Well, I think all the Wonder Pore line boxes are like that.

It’s not noticeable, though, if I lost an significant amount of product. Phew!

I contacted Althea Korea about this.

Here’s their response (may I say, a very prompt one!)

Dear Jamaica,

Thank you for contacting Althea! We are terribly sorry for this unpleasant experience.
The parcels are packed by a team of enthusiastic Althea elves. It is unlikely that they make this kind of mistake during the packaging process.
We do suspect that your parcel was being selected for random customs clearance process which lasted for 2 days from 23 Feb 2016 as indicated in the tracker.
Though we make all the necessary efforts in ensuring that our customers receive their parcel in the best of conditions, we are unable to stop the authorities from peeking into the parcels 🙁
Please accept a P60 Reward Points from us for this out of the ordinary situation!
Please let us know should you have further enquiries. We are more than happy to assist 🙂

Best Regards,

Made sense.

So, what do I think of my first Althea Korea experience?

  • It was pleasant, I guess. This was just, like, a trial purchase, and I am happy with homr things worked out (sans the spill thingy). My only regret is that I should had included some mask sheets.
  • Prices are so much more attractive with Althea Korea. However, some of my staple skincare are not available. I might try some new stuff, though.
  • I WILL order from them again, but I’ll do a big haul – a ‘one time big time’ thing. I will definitely hoard on face mask sheets. Gah I’m so excited just by thinking about it. I SUPER LOVE face mask sheet, BTW. Can you tell? Hahahhahah
  • On some reviews I read online, they included some freebies. Mine did not come with one. Yes, I expected some. HAHAHAHAHUHUHU. Anyway, that didn’t bother me, of course.
  • The long waiting time might bother some. Hence, I highly suggest you buy in bulk orders so, you know, it’s worth the wait.
  • There are also TONS of brands available.

I’ll do separate review on my loots soon 🙂
