Nebraska is one of those one or two mandatory “artsy film” to be nominated every year. Amour. Midnight in Paris. Most often than not, they are very much overlooked but are the most brilliant.
Nebraska is such film. Very beautiful.
The plot was simple – very real, very “everyday life”. Even the love interest of the protagonist is not them skinny actresses. She was very realy. (not gonna spill on the details. I want you to be curious and watch the movie itself)
Scoring was remarkable.
The film was entirely shown in black and white. At first, it annoyed me. There were tons of scenic shots and scenic shots would work well with colors.
But, i don’t know. Towards the end, i ended up liking the feel of B&W. It worked perfectly.
We all know that not much “artsy” film won the Oscars. I have yet to watch Philomena, but so far, Nebraska is my personal favorite.
Because damn it, how can something so simple and subtle be so powerful and beautiful?
